Tachi Yokut Parks, Trails, and Community Space Design
Santa Rosa Rancheria Tribal Community, California
TLALLI Collaborative is working with the Tachi Yokut Tribe on the expansion of their Santa Rosa Rancheria community in the Central Valley of California. Tlalli is designing five neighborhood parks, pedestrian and bicycle trails, community gateways, and streetscapes.
Public realm design by Tlalli celebrates Tachi Yolut principles of centering tribal culture, creating nurturing spaces, and honoring the environment. Parks will reflect culture and traditional teachings with creative use of materials, patterns and landforms. Mountain bike and hiking trails will interweave the community and couple with traditional recreation to expand community health and social connection. Each distinct park will provide unique play play experiences and amenities. Tachi Yokut art, written word, and medicinal plants will form the common design language across the community. Construction is expected to begin in 2023.
